Week 15 - Snapchat Ads

When it comes to Snapchat ads, there are six different types of ads users can create.

1. Single Image or Video Ads: A single image or video ad is a full-screen ad that can be used for almost every advertising objective. These ads allow users to add attachments and allow users to swipe up and perform the actions they want. Users can use images, videos, or a combination of both in a single image or video ad. These ads are best used to drive awareness or conversions and can last up to 10 seconds.

2. Collection Ads: Series ads have four clickable tiles that enable users to showcase a range of products and provide users with a seamless way to browse and purchase products. To create a bundle, users need to use at least 4 images. They can also use up to 20 seconds of video in their ads. These ads are best used to drive traffic to their website or app and are only available on the Snapchat mobile app.

3. Story Ads: Story ads are a series of ads that appear in the Discover section of Snapchat. This feature allows users to display a series of 3-20 single image or video ads. Users can use a variety of videos, images, and CTAs in Story ads to build comprehensive campaigns. Best used to increase brand awareness or engagement.

4. Lenses AR Experience: One of Snapchat’s most unique advertising options is its augmented reality experience. With Lens Studio, users can easily create AR experiences with a set of built-in features such as custom shaders and advanced tracking. There are two types of lens advertising: face advertising and world advertising. Face Lens uses a front-facing camera that can be used to create interactive experiences for users. For example, users can create a photo of a face transformed into a cartoon character. World Lens uses the rear camera and can be used to place virtual objects in the real world. For example, a user can use World Lens to place a virtual car in the user's environment.

5. Commercials: Commercials are ads that appear in Snap's curated content and are not skippable for six seconds but can last for a total of three minutes.

6. Filters: Finally, filters are artistic overlays that appear after the user takes a snapshot and swipes left or right. This option is best used if the user is running a local marketing campaign, as they can appear after the user visits a community, park, restaurant, or store. Filters and geofilters are ways to add creativity to user's Snaps. Filters can be applied to any image or movie snapshot and include things like color filter, time, temperature, speed, and snapshot count.
